Sue Ann Penna is an NRA Certified Basic Pistol, CCW Instructor, and Range Safety Officer specializing in firearm training for women and beginners.
When I picked up a firearm for the first time, I felt what many women, and those new to firearms feel, — uncertain, very intimidated, and unsure of where to begin. But what I discovered through proper training changed everything.
I didn't just learn how to shoot—I learned how to feel confident, safe, and in control. And now, as a certified NRA Pistol Instructor, I am passionate about helping others experience that same transformation.
That’s why I created a different kind of firearm training experience—one that's personal and focused on YOU.
My classes are deliberately small (never more than two students), giving you the one-on-one attention you need to learn at your own pace in a no-pressure environment. Whether you’re a total beginner or looking for training to carry confidently, I meet you where you are.
I specialize in working with women and new shooters — especially those who have never touched a firearm before. My mission is simple: to help people feel capable, secure, confident, and ready to take control of their own safety.

NRA Basic Pistol Classes
In basic pistol, you will learn the knowledge, skills, and attitude for safely owning and operating a firearm.
Upon passing a written test and shooting qualification, you will be issued a certificate.
You will learn about the parts of a pistol and how it operates, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, and shooting from the two-handed standing position.
NRA Basic Pistol is the foundation class for advanced training.
Class cost is $190 per person plus a $25 guest fee for the range for non-members of Cherry Ridge Range.
Class size limited to 2 ppl per class.
Spectators not permitted.

Private Lessons
Packages Available for Private Lessons
One (1) Session - $60 per hour - Min. 2 Hours - $120 - Deposit $35
Two (2) Sessions - $50 per hour - Min. 2 Hours - $200 - Deposit $50
Three (3) Sessions - $45 per hour - Min 2 Hours - $270 - Deposit $90
Four (4) Sessions - $40 per hour - Min. 2 hours - $320 - Deposit $100
Five (5) Sessions - $35 per hour - Min. 2 hours - $350 - Deposit $120
*Additional Charges for Ammo (if needed) and guest pass ($25) for non-members of Cherry Ridge Range
*Dates requested will not be locked in until deposit is received.
*If committing to two or more two (2) hour sessions, dates are flexible. However, changes must be made 48 hours prior to date(s).

NRA Basic CCW Training
Learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude to safely carry a firearm for self-profection.
Course topics include: Firearm Safety, Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense, Basic Defensive Pistol Skills, Drawing from Concealment, Loading and Stoppage Remediation, Mindset, Carry Modes, Pistol Concealment and Use of Force.
The live fire shooting qualification for this class will satisfy NJ CCARE for your NJ conceal carry permit.
NRA Basic Pistol & NRA Basic CCW Classes
Registration for classes requires a $55 deposit (per person) to reserve your spot and will be deducted from balance, which is due on the day of the class.
This class is taught at Cherry Ridge Range.
Non-members of Cherry Ridge Range will also have to pay a $25 per person guest fee.
Firearm Fundamentals Clinic
Registration for class requires a deposit of $35 to reseve and will be deducted from the balance, which is due the day of the class.
This class is taught at Cherry Ridge Range.
Non-members of Cherry Ridge Range will also have to pay a $25 per person guest fee.
Group Classes
Payment for group classes is done through the ANJRPC website.
Click on the date you would like to take the class, and you will be directed to the ANJRPC website to complete your registration and payment.
Payment for all above classes includes targets and eye & ear protection, if needed.
If you do not have your own firearm, one is available for your use at no extra charge, but there is an additional fee for ammo based on amount used.
Cancellation Policy
We ask that you give at least a 24 hour notice is if you need to cancel.
Any no-calls or no-shows will result in a forfeiture of your deposit or class fee.
